3D Artist

Summary

Xpan’s 3D artists are responsible for creating 3D objects and bringing them to life through 3D modelling and animation software. These objects include, but aren’t restricted to props, environment, characters, and creatures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Understand project requirements and conceptualize creative ideas
  • Create 3D models, shaders, and texture maps to match concepts, art direction, and design
  • Work closely with colleagues to maintain quality and style consistent across all objects in a project
  • Research relevant topics and reference points for ideas to ensure fidelity in your designs
  • Storyboard concepts as appropriate
  • Work on tasks with clear direction, with and without supervision
  • Stay up to date on best practices, trends, and skills in the industry

Skills and Expertise

  • Certificate, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree in graphic design, computer graphics, fine arts, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard software including 3ds Max, Blender, and Maya
  • Knowledge of basic math and physics skills as they apply to 3D space within a digital experience
  • Experience with animation and rigging will be considered an asset
  • Excellent creativity and artistic skills
  • An eye for composition, realism, texture, colour, and lighting
  • Demonstrate excellence in interpersonal, problem solving, and consensus building skills
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, well organized and able to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment
