Hatch and Xpan Interactive Ltd. (Xpan) won a 2022 Brandon Hall Group Human Capital Management (HCM) Bronze award for excellence in the Best Advance in Custom Content category. The entry titled Achieving No Harm: Hazard and Risk Management at Hatch was submitted in the area of Learning and Development. The win was announced on August 18, 2022. The Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards are a prestigious international competition recognizing the achievements of organizations across the corporate, government, and not-for-profit sectors from all over the world. Awards are presented across eight areas: Learning and Development, Talent Management, Leadership Development, Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Sales Performance, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and Future of Work.
Entries were evaluated by a panel of veteran, independent senior industry experts, Brandon Hall Group analysts and executives based upon these criteria: fit the need, design of the program, functionality, innovation and overall measurable benefits.
Hatch’s organizational goal is to achieve No Harm by putting safety first in all processes and structured systems. Their commitment to this goal is demonstrated through the Health and Safety team’s collaboration with Xpan. Together these teams are implementing a highly interactive Hazard and Risk Management course suite for their employees, contractors and partners. The goal of this suite is educating learners on safety policies, procedures, and reducing safety incident practices.
Hatch learners are taken on a journey where they identify the difference between hazards and risks, while engaging in application scenarios. The course is illustrated with animated videos, accessible language formats, and displays of detailed learning takeaways. The Conducting an Effective Observation component also walks learners through the process and importance of conducting safety observations.

In addition to improving the learner experience for Hatch stakeholders; Hatch has maintained its total recordable injury frequency rate of 0.05 which is below the Construction Industry Institute 10th percentile of 0.12.
