DevOps PHP Developer

Summary

Reporting to the Software Project Manager and Dev Lead, the DevOps Engineer will be part of a team developing web-based applications and maintaining our infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining our AWS environments and supporting/executing security initiatives. As well, the successful candidate will be an active member of the development team to lead the migration to AWS and streamline our software development cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage cloud deployment infrastructure (AWS)
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines
    Technical architecture documentation
  • Advise on architecture and code security and assist with security audits
  • Application development in PHP/MySQL
    Assist with Laravel/React conversion
  • Javascript and HTML5
  • Maintain and enhance HTML web sites on an as-needed basis
  • Focus on data security and assist with security enhancement initiatives
  • Work with the Project Manager to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
  • Assist in quality control of projects
  • Implement the strategic goals and objectives of Xpan Interactive Ltd
  • Ensure a high standard of client service and execution
  • Ensure processes are developed, documented and implemented

Skills and Expertise

  • Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS)
  • Secure code development
  • Containerization (Docker)
  • CI/CD
  • Laravel/React framework
  • PHP, SQL, Javascript, and HTML5 programming languages
  • APIs
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work remotely as an effective member of a team
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills, and
  • Knowledge of design and development methodologies for web-enabled applications

Education & Experience

  • Software engineering degree, IT degree, or diploma in application development
  • 3-5 years of experience in DevOps role
  • Proven experience working in a team environment, and
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile is an asset
